Borehamwood is one of the few towns in Hertfordshire that lies inside the M25 just north of London. The train journey from Elstree and Borehamwood railway station to London Blackfriars only takes 40 minutes.
Conference organisers can be assured that Borehamwood is easily accessible by car due to its excellent connection with the M25 (J23); the town is situated just off the A1(M) where the A1 meets Stirling Corner and connects with the A411 (Barnet Road) to Barnet. The A1 becomes the Barnet Way at this point which leads south to connect with the A41 for London and the A406 (North Circular). Borehamwood is just 12 miles from Central London via the Congestion Zone; popular Hampstead and Highgate are both also just a few miles away.
For more local transport needs there are bus services throughout Borehamwood. The new Shopping Park has recently undergone major refurbishment and redevelopment, has an extensive open car park and is now home to many nationally recognised stores such as Outfit, M&S Simply Food, Debenhams, New Look, Sports Direct, Argos and Next.
Borehamwood is proud to have the world famous Elstree Studios in its midst, this is where some of the top shows on British television are now filmed such as the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and Channel 5’s Big Brother. Elstree Studios first made its name in the world of film - known as the birthplace of Star Wars, the Indiana Jones and Star Wars trilogies were filmed there as well as 2014’s Paddington Bear, Sherlock Holmes and many more. The obvious choice for film makers, conference organisers should also consider Elstree Studios for an impactful and innovative event as aspects of these historic studios are available for private hire. There is a also a host of hotels with excellent conference and meeting facilities such as the Holiday Inn London Elstree and, further afield in Elstree, the Laura Ashley Hotel.
