Royston is located in the North of Hertfordshire. The town has excellent rail services with trains running to London Kings Cross and journey times of under an hour. The town is also easily accessible by car, with both the A505 and A10 serving Royston.
One of the most interesting historical places within the town is Royston Cave. The cave is located underneath Melbourn Street in the town centre and was discovered by accident in 1942. The cave contains many carvings out of the solid chalk walls and, despite a large amount of speculation, the origin of the cave remains unknown.
There are a range of independent businesses within the town, ranging from fashion retailers, hair and beauty salons and many coffee shops and restaurants. The town also hosts two weekly markets, on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s. As well as the independent businesses and market stalls, the town is also home to some nationally recognised stores such as Tesco, allowing both residents and visitors to access essential amenities.
Royston is also home to some beautiful outdoor spaces such as the award-winning Priory Memorial Gardens. The attractive setting of these gardens caters for everyone and include activities for all ages, from the splash park for young children or the park area for relaxation.
